Isn’t It Ironic? 0

Ironic.thumbnail.jpg

You know you listened to Alanis Morisette’s Ironic and realized the lyric wasn’t so ironic after all. In fact, none of the lines were ironic at all. Let me show you what’s real ironic. In Wikipedia it was said that it refers to particularly striking examples of incongruities observed in everyday life between what was intended or said and what actually happened. Let me give you one good irony:

A diabetic guy was rushing to get his insulin shot was struck by a lorry and died. The lorry was carrying insulin supply to the hospital.

An old man turned ninety-eight. He won the lottery and died the next day
That wasn’t ironic. That was just plain sad. An old man who won a lottery died when he decided to roll a dollar to smoke ‘em. Now that’s ironic.

Dumb Cyber Jock 0

Playing WOW is not as complicated as identifying a HDMI splitters. However, there are some people who just make life so hard for us to actually play the game properly.

You have a tank, which is me that always generate threat. Threat is a mechanic in World of Warcraft to see which player the enemy would first attack. Now to generate threat, you attack the enemy, build up the threat and then later those damage dealing classes like warlock or hunter start inflict damage to take down the enemy.

Now, this idiot actually made my job very hard because he is not concentrating the enemy I’m tanking on. Instead of hitting the guy I’m tanking on, this idiot being a smart ass start pulling other character. I have no problem surviving, being me having a huge armor mitigating lots of damage inflicted on me. Now usually damage dealer do not have my kind of armor, so they’re quick to die when the enemy decided to focus on them.

If you die once because of your stupid mistake, I’m alright with it because it’s pretty hard to gauge your threat level against a tank. Doing it 10 times in a row is a simple act of stupidity. Either this guy is not paying attention or he’s stupid not to realize that there’s a thing called threat.

Another thing about it, if it’s his own stupidity, I would understand if he apologized for the mistake he’s done. This particular idiot practically screamed on the chat (what Caps lock) and asked us to resurrect him. Pissed off that he’s brought so much trouble, we abandoned him and let him run back to recover his body.

This is a good lesson not to get on anybody’s nerve.

Marriage in The Virtual World 0

wow-wedding.jpg

I’m just expressing how good it is to play World of Warcraft, so don’t complain. It’s interesting how World of Warcraft has affected many people’s life. It affects us socially. As I attended an in-game wedding last night, I was surprised to see the real thing. Most of the time, I read all about marriages in WOW but never attended one. The wedding reception was great as it was an eye-opener for me.

Although they are some jokes and puns, you tend to appreciate the scale of the game. It is a game that will suck you in, and make you play your characters. And if you feel boring with the character, you can always pick another and try playing it until you find the one that you really like. In this game, you can be whatever you want to be. You can even stay at level 1 for the remainder of the game play, but you probably won’t get very far.

The fun social aspect of the game is undeniable. Some of the more mature player actually welcome you and help you. If you’re in a good guild, they’ll help you with your runs to get your equipments. And also if you’re a Horde player, there’s a thing called Barrens chat. Although not intentionally made by the developer, the map is huge that it will fit for level 10 to 25, so you will spend most of your early life here. As traveling is far, people do chat in the general channel and they love to come out with inspirational Chuck Norris jokes.

I tried various other games but always returned to WOW. The game was polished to a point that it is really comfortable just by playing the game.

I think that it affects people greatly that they will even leave their home gym equipment in the dust to play WOW.

Small Tips In WOW 0

wow-druid.jpg

This might not be much but I realized they helped me a lot when I’m playing World of Warcraft. If you’re an avid player, I’m sure you would have known some of these tips but if you’re not, perhaps you can utilize these small little tips to help you play better.

1. Press V. This will turn on the enemy health bar if you stand near to them. Not only this gives you the indicator the status of their health but range as well. The health will pop up the moment you stand a certain distance to the mob. If you’re traveling to a map where you’re roughly the same level as the mob, this will help you navigate through the map if you want to avoid any confrontation.

2. Many people I know never used keyboard + mouse combination. You see, the game mechanics need you to face your enemy or the majority of your attack/spells won’t work. Turning around with a keyboard seem so slow and if you’re in a hectic environment where you have to control the mob’s placement, it would always be wise to use your mouse look feature.

3. Make sure you spend your time to play through the class you choose. Get to know what are your class’s advantages and disadvantages and exploit them thoroughly. You might need to spend a lot of time reading about your character’s strength and weakness plus tactics to play. Wow Wiki is a good place to start. In many cases, low levels do not have access to many high level abilities or spell, thus making this game a bit boring. Worry not because Blizzard has accelerated your leveling from 20-60, thus making it easier if you simple complete quest after quest offered by the NPC.

4. Gold making is not as hard as it seems. Many people were begging for gold in major city which were brushed off by many high level players. While gold gathering is slow on low level but you can spend a lot of time in the instances (2-3 runs) especially in Wailing Caverns (I’m a Horde player, so I’m pretty suck at Alliance), you’d earn your money pretty quickly.

5. Read about more upcoming patches and news from WOW Insider. This is important especially you want to know what kind of changes coming in order to achieve your goal. Playing WOW these days does not concentrate solely on getting to level 70 anymore but to get better gear so that you can go raiding with some of the more established guilds.

On a side note” The other day I was playing with a tank who called himself a ‘tankless water heater‘, most probably because he’s an arms or fury warrior, so he couldn’t generate threat as much as I do (I’m a feral druid). Interestingly, he found it so interesting to grind endlessly without actually completing any quest that he starts to do quest at level 35.

Creeped Out 0

tauren-dog.jpg

To those of you who played Tauren in WOW, you’ll remember getting the quest from this guy, Ahab who seems to lose his dog. The creepy part is that when you get near to him, you’ll hear a slow moaning: “Can you find my dog?”.

The reason for this scare is because I was playing it with the lights off at night.

Interestingly enough, new contents are being release every quarter so basically you have new stuff happening nearly every week. PTR* seems to be filled with the new contents. One of the interesting things that they release is some new pets such as Mojo (a frog). Doing a /kiss will result you being a frog! While it may seem like a nice touch, I wonder if they would come out with an Emu Australia as a pet in the future.

Oh, well in any case, I couldn’t wait to get back in tonight.
