Movie Review: Iron Man

ironman

If you read my previous post about how skeptical I am about Robert Downey Jr.’s performance on Tony Stark, I finally watched Ironman and was surprised he carried out the role exactly to the comic form. True to the comic, I was really surprised how Robert Downy Jr. managed to raised my expectation that he can indeed carry out being Tony Stark.

*Warning: Spoilers ahead*

Tony Stark was an eccentric, self absorbed and coupled with dark humor. He’s a stuck up rich boy with an attitude that would make you hate him and yet love him at the same time.

Being a billionaire weapon manufacturer (most probably with the most term life insurance quotes) that just demonstrated his Jericho missile; he was kidnapped and forced to build a Jericho missile for the terrorists. During his imprisonment, he managed to build a suit that helped him escape the clutches of the evil maniac and back to the United States.

He got back and realized his weapons are used for the wrong purpose set out to destroy the weapons he once built. In doing so, he perfected his armor which has flight capability with amazing weapons built on to it. His old armor were pieced together by the terrorist was brought back to their employer, none other than Tony Stark’s CEO himself.

Wanted to fix what went wrong, he went blazing with his new armor with a lot of funny slapstick and scene that made you want to laugh. The ending? Good guy wins, got the girl and paved his way for the next Iron Man movie.

One thing that sucked though is the character development of Pepper Pots. I earnestly think that Gweneth Paltrow carried the role perfectly but the script writer decided to make her and Stark some romantic feature which I think is wrong. Pepper Pots is a tough matured woman who has shown deadpan loyalty and will do almost anything to help her boss. In this show, she fell head over heels as soon as Start brought her to a dance.

So there you go ladies and gentlemen. If you want to stay true to the comic, you might as well watch and concentrate on Robert Downey Jr. He is Tony Stark!

i just want to say that after watching his previous movies, i would never doubt any of the Downey Jr.’s future movies, he can get his flirt on any time! (you may edit this comment for slavish fangirlism)

Hahaha! Well said. I thought his reputation was damaged by his drug abuse, but if you can see pass that, he is an excellent actor.

p/s: And I prefer him more than Tom Cruise. :P
