Ready, Lights and Action!

It might not be a good time but I finally got myself a new toy. Here’s a hint: it’s a DSLR. This pricey baby has got me back to the DLSR world because I find my Sony DSC-R1 has several limitations:

1. No matter how good a Prosumer camera is, it is still a point and shoot and you will hate shooting in low light condition. Yes, there could be flash and yes there would be good noise removal software but the deadpan 1-2 seconds of focusing will leave things more to be desired. Not to mention that sometimes it will fail to focus.

2. 1.5 frames per second (fps) is not king! Yes, under the real sunlight the Prosumer may produce the greatest colors in the world but let’s face the fact, under the same condition that does not allow you to take a 3.5 fps comes at a great disadvantage. Now, just imagine you will take a party dinner where you want to do a lot of candid shots. 1.5 fps will make you want to kill yourself because you’re unable to get that shot you want.

3. I went to R1 because of the superior white balancing meter but this new baby surpassed beyond my expectation. Yes, the colors are not as vibrant and yes it is not as saturated (I’m talking default settings) but at least I don’t have to tweak around in Photoshop that much. I tested this baby out and it really blew my mind when I decided to put it all on newbie mode (reset every settings to default).

4. Aside to buy memory and getting an additional lens, the overall price tag is blowing the roof but I’m glad the whole ordeal came directly from the money I earn from 3 years of blogging. Zero money is taken from my monthly income. Here’s a hint: if you got money in Paypal and want to get them out, use Tunemoney. They will give you good rates and will not charge you the extra USD 10 like some other banks. However, Paypal will still charge USD 5 per USD 500 transaction (only USD 495 will be transferred on each transaction).

5. Last but not least, having two cameras is better than one. One break down and you can still continue shooting. And no, a camera phone is not considered a real camera!
