Small Tips In WOW 0

wow-druid.jpg

This might not be much but I realized they helped me a lot when I’m playing World of Warcraft. If you’re an avid player, I’m sure you would have known some of these tips but if you’re not, perhaps you can utilize these small little tips to help you play better.

1. Press V. This will turn on the enemy health bar if you stand near to them. Not only this gives you the indicator the status of their health but range as well. The health will pop up the moment you stand a certain distance to the mob. If you’re traveling to a map where you’re roughly the same level as the mob, this will help you navigate through the map if you want to avoid any confrontation.

2. Many people I know never used keyboard + mouse combination. You see, the game mechanics need you to face your enemy or the majority of your attack/spells won’t work. Turning around with a keyboard seem so slow and if you’re in a hectic environment where you have to control the mob’s placement, it would always be wise to use your mouse look feature.

3. Make sure you spend your time to play through the class you choose. Get to know what are your class’s advantages and disadvantages and exploit them thoroughly. You might need to spend a lot of time reading about your character’s strength and weakness plus tactics to play. Wow Wiki is a good place to start. In many cases, low levels do not have access to many high level abilities or spell, thus making this game a bit boring. Worry not because Blizzard has accelerated your leveling from 20-60, thus making it easier if you simple complete quest after quest offered by the NPC.

4. Gold making is not as hard as it seems. Many people were begging for gold in major city which were brushed off by many high level players. While gold gathering is slow on low level but you can spend a lot of time in the instances (2-3 runs) especially in Wailing Caverns (I’m a Horde player, so I’m pretty suck at Alliance), you’d earn your money pretty quickly.

5. Read about more upcoming patches and news from WOW Insider. This is important especially you want to know what kind of changes coming in order to achieve your goal. Playing WOW these days does not concentrate solely on getting to level 70 anymore but to get better gear so that you can go raiding with some of the more established guilds.

On a side note” The other day I was playing with a tank who called himself a ‘tankless water heater‘, most probably because he’s an arms or fury warrior, so he couldn’t generate threat as much as I do (I’m a feral druid). Interestingly, he found it so interesting to grind endlessly without actually completing any quest that he starts to do quest at level 35.

Apple iPhone Unlocked 0

Great news from France! Apparently Apple is trying to penetrate the French market found them self in a deadlock with the EU regulation that they need to make the manufacturer to unlock the device after 6 months of usage from the provider. In response to that, Apple will be releasing a locked version (Vodafone) and an unlocked version in France.

This seems to be great news as some people could get them unlocked for a certain fee but I think many would just take the unlocked version. Apply is still trying to fulfill the demands for their iPhones and if this goes through smoothly, I believe the unlocked phones will be available to the rest of the world in no time!

What do you think? Will you get an iPhone if they do arrive in Malaysia? I know I want one!

Creeped Out 0

tauren-dog.jpg

To those of you who played Tauren in WOW, you’ll remember getting the quest from this guy, Ahab who seems to lose his dog. The creepy part is that when you get near to him, you’ll hear a slow moaning: “Can you find my dog?”.

The reason for this scare is because I was playing it with the lights off at night.

Interestingly enough, new contents are being release every quarter so basically you have new stuff happening nearly every week. PTR* seems to be filled with the new contents. One of the interesting things that they release is some new pets such as Mojo (a frog). Doing a /kiss will result you being a frog! While it may seem like a nice touch, I wonder if they would come out with an Emu Australia as a pet in the future.

Oh, well in any case, I couldn’t wait to get back in tonight.

Memory Limitation 1

vista.jpg

Running Vista these days ain’t that easy anymore. With the advent of all computer memory limited 3.2 GB (no thanks to Intel who is still wusing Intel Architecture 32-bit), it is hard to have the ultimate memory space in your system. Not counting PAE (Physical Address Extension), I think something needs to be done if Microsoft would want to launch the next generation of Windows.

There are a couple ways how this thing would be resolved:

1. Microsoft would reprogram the whole operating system to take up as little resource as possible. I don’t see this happening with Apple’s Mac OS X, where their 1GB Macbook is able to decode DVD, play Quicktime and run Adobe Photoshop CS2 all at the same time with very little lag. If Apple can do it, why not Microsoft? Hell, if Microsoft would even start to incorporate Linux, then be my guess. They could lose a little pride but hell, at least they’d be doing us a favor in the long run.

2. Intel starts churning up 64-bit architecture. While this would be great, don’t forget that software eats up hardware faster than they can develop a 128-bit architecture. While the software has trouble coping from 32-bit to 64-bit programming, I believe this issue would have loads of trouble when coming to implementing it.

3. Transitioning the whole world from 32-bit to 64-bit tends to take up lots of work. Perhaps a quantum computing would help. First thing I would think off is they will develop worlds instead of what you see on a computer screen. This may what people want but let’s not get ahead of ourselves over here. Quantum mechanics is still a long process to be realized to a computer. With advent of quantum mechanics, I think those people should have come out with something that would last us a very long time…

4. It would be a cold day in Hell before Microsoft would even think of releasing their Windows source code to the internet community. Until they do, think of the things that the public could fix. There are a lot of good programmers out there who can work on separate project to make Windows code much cleaner and faster. Not to mention that it would reduce the footprint on the system resources but also speed up a lot of other processes as well. If Microsoft is willing to lend a hand of getting the community to work with the hardware developer, I believe we should have a better operating system at hand.

5. Have Windows connected to Microsoft servers. This means the operating system is running on Microsoft server and we are all using dumb terminal connected to Windows. Imagine how little fuss it would cause as new security vulnerabilities are patched immediately. With virtualization in the rise I think we use software as subscription. You don’t pay and you have limited workability on your space or even lock you out. If you hate Microsoft run things, you can always switch to a free operating desktop like Linux or something.

It seems interesting to see how our operating system will work in the future; these idea remained to be seen. Who knows, they might even implement any of those above ideas into one, thus making it a one stop solution to server our thirst for information, communication and even entertainment for a long time to come.

Bad Bus Drivers 0

konsortium.jpg

Our road has becoming more hazardous these days after what we hear from Nian Ning. I had a near-death experience from a Konsortium bus this morning. The traffic was already bad as it is but this idiot actually jumped cue and cut into my lane. As I tried to swerve to avoid the sideline, I realized I had no choice to but to allow this barge into my lane, because I’m already backed to the wall.

The worst part is that the driver didn’t even bother to give a signal light.

After my unsuccessful maneuver with the bus who thinks he is driving a sports car, the bus left in dust and proceeded to cut left and right to get to his destination. How unfortunate I didn’t record the bus registration number.

And this is the most minor issue I have encountered. One of my friends actually went through an even worse experience. They were coming back from Singapore in a bus when their transport actually banged up a braked lorry. Three people were sent to the hospital but no major injuries were reported.

So, if you have some decency of a human moral value, do sign up for a petition for the government to crack down this kind of behavior that could endanger our roads. Not only the public transport commuters are exposed to the danger but those other people who’s using the road in their own private vehicles as well.

You can sign the petition here.
